My Father, Bernard McDermott, was the top turret gunner on Whistlin' Shithouse, a B-24. Can't imagine that there were too many aircraft with that name! LOL. The pilot was Capt Wickam, co-pilot's name was Oldham, the bombardier was "Smitty". If you want, I can try to get the name/pix of the crew.

He was in the "Pink Elephants" - the 404th BG, 28th BS in the 11th AAF. He was on Shemya in the Aleutians until August 1945. I am trying to get him to organize his photos from that period, but would be very much interested if you had a picture of that nose art that you could email me. Or if you have them up on the net, just send me a URL, and I can pull off myself.

Let me know if there is anything else you want to know about the 404th from summer 1944 - 1945.
