My uncle, John B. MacHale, left the USMC in order to join the RCAF, I believe in early 1942. He became a Lancaster pilot and flew missions during the war. He elected to stay in the USMC rather than transfer to the USAAF.|
Following the war he flew commercially until 1968, when he became ill with cancer. He died in Seattle, WA in July, 1969.
