I am trying to locate anyone who may remember an incident at Iron Range, near Portlands Road, Cape York Queensland. My fathers brother, Sydney Lynch was burnt to death there either on the 29 or 30/9/1942. there is a lot of questions left unanswered about the incident. He was buried by the 22nd Bombardment group at Iron Range. I am lead to believe that he was the first person buried at this cemetary.
My Uncle Sydney has a daughter who was born a few months after his death and she has searched for the truth for many years. The Australian Government has given her the run around and says that it has no records of the incident. There was a inquest into his death but they can not locate a copy of it. Any help in this matter would be a godsend to his family.
