I remember Clyde Whitworth as a member of the 33rd Squad.,22nd BG back in WW II. As I recall, we were well acquainted and spent some tent time together. We were both B-24 crew members, he, I believe, was a radio operator gunner, and I served as an engineer gunner (not on the same crew, but we may have flown some missions together). He joined the Squadron, I believe,at Clark Field on Leyte and we both ended up on Okinawa. When the war ended, we went our separate ways...but, I do indeed remember Clyde...I believe he was from St.Louis or vicinity.
There is a Clyde Whitworth who is a Ham radio operator living at 5105 W.Country Club Dr. Sarasota, FL 34243...he may be your uncle.
Hope this helps...if you find that Clyde is still living, please let me know. Regards, Stan Gordon
